Akshaya Vidya has been striving to improve the lives of underprivileged children through education. Though training the tutors running the centers is taken up throughout the year, we plan to make the most out of the summer vacation by engaging our tutors as well as students in a summer camp where they would experience the joy of learning. The camp will start on the 29th of April, 2017 and end on 16th May, 2017.
We plan to introduce child-centric methods of learning which encourage peer-learning as well. To make the implementation part easy, we have selected about 60 tutors and 100 students too for the training. A plethora of activities like games, kolatam, Jam, storytelling, music, quiz etc. would also be taken up during this summer for their overall development.
The Management of Kennedy High, the Global School at Bachupally has been kind enough to allow us to use their premises.
The total expenditure of the camp is about Rs.4,00,000/- only (Rupees Four Lakhs only). The food expenses for the 18- day camp alone come around to Rs.2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) per person for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea and snacks (twice). The other expenses include transportation to and from the venue, educational materials and stationery, certificates, prizes for the participants etc.

- Sponsor a day’s expenditure @ Rs. 22000/- per day (either singly or in group) or
- Sponsor a student’s food @ Rs. 2000/- per student
- Sponsor for the .grocery items (list given below)
- Sponsor for cultural faculty (list given below).
List of major grocery items required for the camp:
- Rice : 1000 kgs
- Oil : 10 tins of 15 kgs each
- Toor dal: 100 kgs
- Tea powder: 25 kgs
- Sugar : 75 kgs
- Milk : 30 ltrs per day
- Vegetables: Rs. 1000/- per day
Remuneration to be paid for cultural faculty:
- Kolatam : Rs.500/- x 17 days = Rs.8500/-
- Dappu: Rs. 500/- x 17 days =Rs.8500/-
- Music: Rs. 10000/-
- Dance: Rs. 10000/-
- Skits & Monoaction: Rs. 8500/-
- Vedic Math: Rs. 1000/- x17 =Rs. 17000/-
