Akshaya Vidya has been striving to improve the lives of underprivileged children through education. Though training the tutors running the centers is taken up throughout the year, we plan to make the most out of the summer vacation by engaging our tutors as well as students in a summer camp where they would experience the joy of learning. The camp will start on the 29th of April, 2017 and end on 16th May, 2017.
We plan to introduce child-centric methods of learning which encourage peer-learning as well. To make the implementation part easy, we have selected about 60 tutors and 100 students too for the training. A plethora of activities like games, kolatam, Jam, storytelling, music, quiz etc. would also be taken up during this summer for their overall development.
The Management of Kennedy High, the Global School at Bachupally has been kind enough to allow us to use their premises.
The total expenditure of the camp is about Rs.4,00,000/- only (Rupees Four Lakhs only). The food expenses for the 18- day camp alone come around to Rs.2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) per person for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea and snacks (twice). The other expenses include transportation to and from the venue, educational materials and stationery, certificates, prizes for the participants etc.
Since together we can achieve more than that we can when alone, join hands with us in this nation-building cause and donate. You may opt to:

Smt .Tantia Kumari,AP State RTI Commissioner visited the Akshaya Vidya centres of Singareni Colony today i.e., 28th Dec 2015 evening at 4.00 p.m to 6.30 p.m
She spoke to people in general in the slums and inquired about their problems. She interacted with our slum tutors and motivated them to continue their education which is very important for their improvement in life.
Another wonderful gifting concept supported by the Thrive Energy Corporation as well as the One Child, One Light foundation is that of giving Solar lamps to children for their education. We can first hand confirm how much of a help this is – not just to the children in their education but to them ( and their parents) in their general daily life in the Slums. Thanks a ton to Rangaji and Ms. Beena Williams for their wonderful support.
